Due to COVID-19, many aspects of our lives changed drastically. For me, it was school and work. I haven’t visited the campus in over a year. This caused me to lose the ability to gain more social interactions and connections. While building my application, I lost the opportunity to connect with other consumers in order to obtain valuable feedback. Although I developed this application due to a problem I encountered, I also wanted to build a product that would satisfy not only my needs but others as well. I decided to reach out via social media in order to obtain results to justify the problem at hand.
I was able to generate 33 responses within 24 hours via Google Form in order to determine if my idea was a solution. 58% of them agreed. Because of COVID-19, I wasn’t able to gain more insight by conducting user interviews in order to receive live feedback. This was a minor step back in development. However, I was able to communicate with others via social media in order to establish a common foreground in order to proceed with my app development.
Overall, it was a bit of a struggle to get this application started due to having so many ideas but being unsure where to start. For a while I lacked inspiration until I researched how the look and feel of my application should be and performed a prototype in Figma. This allowed me to learn more tools in order to push my idea forward. In the end, I was able to develop a minimum viable product with enough features to validate my product idea. Hopefully once society starts getting back to normal, I can continue to improve and develop my application.
